Photo: Japanese Railways

Seems like I’m becoming a Japanese Railways (JR) nerd. Actually I have been thinking about making a documentary movie about the unique style of the JR officials, but it won’t happen. These guys are like robots, pointing with their white gloves at imaginary objects in seconds precision and generally live in their own JR-style world.

Here is just a train, though. I liked how the cables above make the sky almost disappear.

And here are some older photos with the same JR theme:

BTW: I need some serious feedback on my pictures, guys! And no, I don’t mean “great pictures” comments, just honest feedback and criticism. What could I do better? Are the pictures boring? I want to learn! This goes especially to my graphic, designer and artist friends out there.

One photo from Tokyo Municipal Tower. I have done a similar image before, with my old camera. I think the new one is a bit better, IMG_2404_1but is it worth carrying about 1.5kg more? This is the old photo:

My first pictures with the D7000

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Finally I got myself a decent DSLR camera (a Nikon D7000). Here are some pictures I took while I’m playing around with it and getting to know it. I noticed that even with a good camera, getting good pictures is not as easy as I would have thought… But I enjoy the new possibilities and I’ll post more pictures here, as I (hopefully) progress. For now it’s just a few scenes from daily life in Japan, and I have to confess I know a few better places to find beauty… ;)
